The forget-me-not flower is believed to have gotten its name from a German legend. According to the legend, when God was naming all the plants, a small blue flower cried out "Forget-me-not, O Lord!" as it had not been named. God replied, "That shall be your name." The name "forget-me-not" thus symbolizes remembrance and enduring love.
